There was a minor upset in Tianjin where 14th ranked Bayi Fubang (7-16) was defeated by sixteenth ranked TianJin Rongcheng (8-17) 110-98. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. TianJin Rongcheng dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Bayi Fubang's 48 and made 28-of-34 charity shots (82.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Bayi Fubang 50-33 including 16 on the offensive glass. 31 personal fouls committed by Bayi Fubang helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Donnell Harvey (203-80, college: Florida) notched a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 25 rebounds to lead the effort and supported him with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 15 points and 9 rebounds by the former international center ZhiZhi Wang (214-77) did not help to save the game for Bayi Fubang. International swingman Bo Zhang (199-89) added 18 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. TianJin Rongcheng moved-up to fourteenth place. Bayi Fubang lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. TianJin Rongcheng's next round opponent will be higher ranked Zhejiang Cyclones (#8) in Hangzhou and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bayi Fubang will play at home against Qingdao Double Star (#12).
