Regular Season Round 19: AZS Kutno - Znicz Basket 72-65

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked MKS Znicz Basket (9-8) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked AZS Kutno (10-8) 72-65 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But MKS Znicz Basket won third quarter 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when AZS Kutno won last quarter 21-15. They also forced 22 MKS Znicz Basket turnovers and outrebounded them 46-31 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when AZS Kutno made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for guard Michal Marciniak (195-79) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Aleks Perka (201-87, college: Rice, agency: Stanley International) helped adding 8 points and 14 rebounds. At the losing side forward Andrzej Misiewicz (201-84, college: Daytona Beach CC) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and center Alan Czujkowski (198-90) scored 13 points. Four MKS Znicz Basket players scored in double figures. AZS Kutno moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Polonia and Rosa Radom. Loser MKS Znicz Basket dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. AZS Kutno will face P.Cukier SIDEn (#10) in Torun in the next round. MKS Znicz Basket will play at home against Polonia in Przemysl and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
