There was no surprise in Brandon, MB where 9th ranked Bobcats (5-8) were crushed by seventh ranked Spartans (7-6) 105-74 on Friday. The game without a history. Spartans led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Bobcats' 28. They outrebounded Bobcats 46-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. Spartans shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. American guard Tristan Smith (183-86) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Guard Sean Peter (191) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Five Spartans players scored in double figures. Ilarion Bonhomme produced 17 points and 4 assists and forward Jordan Reaves added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Spartans have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Guelph. Loser Bobcats keep the ninth position with eight games lost. Spartans will face Cougars (#13) in Regina, SK in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bobcats will play at home against Cascades (#5) in Abbotsford, BC.
