Regular Season Round 29: Chiba Jets - Akita NH 65-90

BJ League top team - Akita Happinets (17-9) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Chiba Jets (10-14) 90-65. It looked good early as Chiba Jets took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Akita Happinets had a 29-9 second period charge getting the lead and Chiba Jets were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-90. Akita Happinets dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Chiba Jets' 28 and made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Akita Happinets forced 24 Chiba Jets turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Forward E.J. Drayton (204-82, college: Charlotte, agency: Strategic Sports) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Five Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Guard Jamel Staten (198-83, college: Minnesota St.) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and guard Maurice Hargrow (193-83, college: Minnesota) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They maintain first place with 17-9 record. Chiba Jets at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
