Regular Season Round 19: Regina - UFV 73-86

Date: January 20, 2012
Not a big story in a game in Regina, SK where 13th ranked Cougars (3-9) were defeated by sixth ranked Cascades (8-5) 86-73 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Cascades. Cougars was better in third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Forward Kyle Grewal (198-88) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Samuel Freeman (191) chipped in 23 points. Vule Grujic produced 16 points and forward Paul Gareau (201) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cascades moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Brock and Manitoba. Cougars lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Cascades will face Bobcats (#10) in Brandon, MB in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cougars will play at home against Spartans in Langley, BC.
