The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Athinaikos (#1) and Panionios (#3). Athinaikos (14-0) won against visiting Panionios (9-5) 57-49. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Panionios. The game without a history. Athinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was the former international guard May Kay Kotsopoulos (178-88, college: Vermont) who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Lolita Lymoura (180-85, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. International power forward Peli Papamichail (189-86, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Bulgarian center Lydia Milkova (192-70) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Athinaikos have an impressive 13-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-0 record. Panionios at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Asteras and Panathinaikos. Athinaikos are looking forward to face PAOK (#10) in Thessaloniki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panionios will play on the road against Aris (#9) in Thessaloniki and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
