Melbourne Tigers (#4) were upset in Broadbeach by seventh ranked Gold Coast Blaze 92-78. The game was mostly controlled by Gold Coast Blaze. Melbourne Tigers managed to win third quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gold Coast Blaze made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. International guard Adam Gibson (188-86) fired 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). American swingman Ronald Dorsey (197-83, college: McNeese St.) produced 24 points and his fellow American import point guard Myron Allen (180-79, college: Lee JC) added 13 points and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Four Gold Coast Blaze and five Melbourne Tigers players scored in double figures. Gold Coast Blaze (8-8) moved-up to sixth place. Melbourne Tigers lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Gold Coast Blaze will meet at home higher ranked Cairns Taipans (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Melbourne Tigers will play against Wollongong Hawks in Gwynneville and hope to secure a win.
