Regular Season Round 29: Shiga L-Stars - Okinawa GK 81-84

The most exciting game of round 29 in the BJ League took place in Shiga. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th placed Shiga L-Stars (16-9) to first ranked Okinawa GK (20-5) 84-81 in the game for the first place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Shiga L-Stars won third quarter 27-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American players dominated the game. Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. Center Dillion Sneed (203-84, college: E.Tenn.St.) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin) answered with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars' coach Al Westover rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Okinawa GK have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-5 record. Shiga L-Stars at the other side dropped to the second position with nine games lost. They share it with Niigata Albirex and Fukuoka Rizing. Okinawa GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shiga L-Stars will play again at home against the league's leader Okinawa GK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
