Regular Season Round 16: Crocodiles - Hawks 65-63

Date: January 21, 2012
Very expected game in Wulguru where 9th ranked Wollongong Hawks (4-13) were edged by fifth ranked Townsville Crocodiles (9-6) 65-63 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 65-63. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Todd Blanchfield (200-91) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American point guard Edward Gill (184-78, college: Weber St., agency: Priority Sports) who added 11 points during the contest. At the losing side swingman Timothy Coenraad (201-85, college: Nova SE) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international power forward Oscar Forman (205-82) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Townsville Crocodiles have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Wollongong Hawks stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Townsville Crocodiles will face league's leader Perth Wildcats on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Wollongong Hawks will play against Melbourne Tigers (#5).
