Regular Season Round 20: Concordia - McGill 69-61
Date: January 21, 2012
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montreal, QC: Stingers (#1) and Redmen (#3). Stingers (7-0) won against visiting Redmen (4-4) 69-61. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. Stingers made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 30 Redmen turnovers. Strangely Redmen outrebounded Stingers 46-22 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Jerome Blake who scored that evening 19 points and forward Evens Laroche (193) supported him with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Stingers' coach John Dore used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Even 13 points and 8 rebounds by Winn Clark did not help to save the game for Redmen. Vincent Dufort added 11 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stingers have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Redmen at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Stingers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Redmen will play against the league's second-placed Citadines in Montreal, QC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
