Very expected game when 8th ranked Toshiba Thunders (2-22) lost to fourth ranked Panasonic Trians (13-11) in Kanagawa 69-81 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Panasonic Trians. Toshiba Thunders was better in second period 17-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Toshiba Thunders to just 4 points in first quarter. Panasonic Trians made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Toshiba Thunders 40-28 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international center Fumihiko Aono (210-78) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). International swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) contributed with 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Chris Moss (204-80, college: W.Virginia) replied with 13 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Shohei Kikuchi (190-85) added 15 points in the effort for Toshiba Thunders. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panasonic Trians maintains fourth position with 13-11 record. Toshiba Thunders lost eighth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Panasonic Trians will face Tochigi Brex (#5) on the road in the next round. Toshiba Thunders will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
