Regular Season Round 12: Toyota Alvark - Mitsubishi DD 64-49

JBL top team - Toyota Alvark (19-5) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat sixth ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (10-14) in Fuchu 64-49. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Mitsubishi Dolphins. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-49. Toyota Alvark dominated on the defensive end, holding Mitsubishi Dolphins to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 49-30 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. International power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) replied with 8 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) added 11 points in the effort for Mitsubishi Dolphins. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota Alvark maintains first position with 19-5 record. Loser Mitsubishi Dolphins keep the sixth place with 14 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face Hitachi Sunrockers (#3) in Osaka in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play on the road against the league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya.
