No shocking result in a game when second ranked Panthers (9-3) beat 6th ranked Tigers (4-6) in Halifax, NS 85-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Panthers. Tigers was better in third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Guard Jonathan Cooper (183-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 assists. Sudanese forward Manock Lual (198-89) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Panthers players scored in double figures. Guard Casey Fox (193) replied with 20 points and 4 steals and Bahamas forward Robert Nortmann (198) added 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Tigers. Tigers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Panthers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-3 record having nine points less than leader Lakehead. Loser Tigers keep the sixth place with six games lost. Panthers will have a break next round. Tigers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Halifax, NS to the arena Huskies.
