The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Warriors' (4-10) home loss to sixth ranked Gryphons (8-6) in Waterloo, ON 68-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gryphons. Warriors was better in second period 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. Guard Daniel McCarthy (188) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 7 rebounds. Eric McDonald contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Gryphons players scored in double figures. Guard Mike Wright (180-91) replied with 23 points and forward Andrew Melbourne (188-90) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Warriors. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gryphons moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Warriors lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Gryphons will face higher ranked Marauders (#4) in Hamilton, ON in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
