Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Mustangs (4-10) lost to second ranked Golden Hawks (12-2) in London, ON 73-89 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-73. Golden Hawks outrebounded Mustangs 55-30 including a 39-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Matthew Buckley (215) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Forward Maxwell Allin (193) contributed with 23 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Golden Hawks players scored in double figures. Guard Ryan Barbeau (178) replied with 25 points and 7 rebounds and forward Peter Scholtes (196) added 20 points in the effort for Mustangs. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Golden Hawks have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Lakehead. Loser Mustangs dropped to the seventh place with ten games lost. Golden Hawks will face Badgers (#5) in St.Catharines, ON in the next round. Mustangs will play at home against the league's leader Vikies in Victoria, BC.
