The game in Hod Hasharon supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (11-3) played at the court of 6th ranked Hod Hasharon (7-7). Hapoel Tel-Aviv did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 82-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Hod Hasharon managed to win third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Tel-Aviv dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Hod Hasharon's 22. They outrebounded Hod Hasharon 47-29 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St.) had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American swingman Corry Carr (192-75, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Hapoel Tel-Aviv's coach Erez Edelshtein used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Latvian swingman Gary Gandel (203-80) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Puerto Rican point guard Javier Gonzalez (182-89, college: N.Carolina St.) scored 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Hod Hasharon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Tel-Aviv maintains second position with 11-3 record behind leader Macc.B.Yaakov. Loser Hod Hasharon keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will meet at home Elitzur Ramla (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hod Hasharon will play against Hapoel Kfar Saba and hope to secure a win.
