Regular Season Round 12: Aishin SH - Hitachi SR 61-66

An interesting game for Hitachi Sunrockers (14-10) which played road game in Kariya against second-best Aishin Sea Horses (17-7). Third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers managed to get a 5-point victory 66-61. Aishin Sea Horses were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 17-11 charge of Hitachi Sunrockers, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by Swedish forward Christian Maraker (206-82, college: Pacific) who scored that evening 14 points and 7 rebounds and international power forward Joji Takeuchi (206-85, agency: N.E.T.) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Even 8 points, 21 rebounds and 6 assists by the former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) did not help to save the game for Aishin Sea Horses. The former international point guard Shinsuke Kashiwagi (183-81) added 16 points. Aishin Sea Horses' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains third position with 14-10 record having five points less than leader Toyota Alvark. Defending champion Aishin Sea Horses keep the second place with seven games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will meet at home league's leader Toyota Alvark in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aishin Sea Horses will play against Mitsubishi Dolphins in Nagoya and hope to secure a win.
