Very important is a road loss of third ranked Handlova (13-11) against sixth ranked Svit (11-12) on Saturday night. Visiting Handlova was defeated by Svit in a tough game in Svit 79-84. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Handlova. Handlova was ahead by 11 points after three quarters before a 29-13 charge of Svit, which allowed them to win the game. Handlova was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Vincent Polakovic (203-84, college: USF) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. American forward Johndre Jefferson (205, college: S.Carolina) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Svit players scored in double figures. American forward Sean Hampton (195-75, college: Alders.-Broad.) answered with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and the former international center Milan Golian (206-74) added 9 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Handlova. Svit maintains sixth place with 11-12 record. Handlova at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. Svit will play against Levice (#7) at home in the next round. Handlova will play against the league's second-placed Prievidza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
