BJ League top team - Akita Happinets (17-9) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Chiba Jets (10-14) 99-78. The game without a history. Akita Happinets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Akita Happinets forced 23 Chiba Jets turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) nailed 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and guard Mychal Kearse (194-83, college: Mt.St.Mary's) accounted for 14 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Guard Jamel Staten (198-83, college: Minnesota St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists and guard Maurice Hargrow (193-83, college: Minnesota) added 23 points respectively for Chiba Jets in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They maintain first place with 17-9 record. Loser Chiba Jets dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Yokohama BC. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
