Regular Season Round 17: Bourges - Lyon 75-55

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Lyon (5-12) was crushed on the road by third ranked Bourges (12-4) 75-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Bourges. Lyon managed to win fourth quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bourges forced 21 Lyon turnovers. International Nwal-Endene Miyem (188-88) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and American guard Catherine Joens (180-82) chipped in 17 points. Bourges' coach Valerie Garnier used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Turkish power forward Leigh Aziz (186-79, college: Syracuse) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and American center Krystal Thomas (195-89, college: Duke) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. Bourges have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 12-4 record having just three points less than leader Lattes Montp. Lyon lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Aix-en-Provence. Bourges will meet league's leader Lattes Montpellier on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lyon will play against Union Hainaut (#8) in Saint-Amand and hope to secure a win.
