Regular Season Round 16: COB Calais - SIG 58-56

Seventh-ranked SIG (7-8) was very close to win a game against second ranked COB Calais (12-4) on Saturday. COB Calais managed to secure only two-point victory 58-56. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 27-22 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Melanie Arnaud (184-88) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Emilie Duvivier (168-84) contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Center Celine Schmitt-Sender (185-80) replied with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Cameroonian forward Amina Njonkou (185-88, college: Arizona) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for SIG. COB Calais have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-4 record behind leader Perpignan, which they share with Toulouse. SIG lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. COB Calais is looking forward to face Dunkerque (#6) on the road in the next round. SIG will play against Toulouse and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
