Very expected game when 11th ranked Alghero (4-12) lost to seventh ranked Marghera (7-7) in Venezia 44-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Marghera. Alghero was better in second period 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 5 points in first quarter. Marghera forced 21 Alghero turnovers. It was a good game for Bulgarian forward Anna Rimpova (183-82) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Marta Savelli (175-82) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Bulgarian power forward Radostina Slavova-Naneva (188-86) answered with 12 points and guard Francesca Rosellini (175-90) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Alghero. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Marghera. They maintain seventh place in North with 7-7 record. Loser Alghero keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Marghera will face league's second-placed Vigarano on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alghero will play against Borgotaro (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
