Top ranked Casablanca (12-3) recorded its third loss in Zaragoza on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Real Canoe (11-4) 62-46. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Casablanca. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 62-46. Real Canoe outrebounded Casablanca 36-21 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Kate Mills (185-86, college: Massachusetts) fired 18 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) for the winners. Guard Lidia Gesteira (172-72) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Real Canoe's coach Pablo Roldan used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Paula Palomares (170-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and center Marta Garcia (193-86) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Real Canoe moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Conquero. Casablanca at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Pais Vasco. Real Canoe is looking forward to face Gernika (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Casablanca will play against ASEFA Estudiantes (#12) in Madrid and is hoping to win this game.
