Regular Season Round 19: Lethbridge - Calgary 57-72

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Calgary (9-5) defeated on the road 13th ranked Lethbridge (2-12) 72-57 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Calgary's pressure prevailed and they won that period 19-7 extending their advantage to 15 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lethbridge to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Calgary dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Lethbridge's 22. Calgary forced 27 Lethbridge turnovers. Guard Tamara Jarrett (168-91) fired 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Jenna Kaye (168) chipped in 11 points, 6 assists and 6 steals. Guard Ali Cameron (163) produced 20 points and guard Lauren Taal (175) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Lethbridge's coach Donna Branch rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Calgary moved-up to third place, which they share with Laurier. Lethbridge lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Calgary will face league's second-placed Alberta in Edmonton in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lethbridge will play at home against Manitoba (#11) in Winnipeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
