Date: January 22, 2012
The game in Ettelbruck was also quite interesting. 5th ranked Basket Esch (8-8) played at the court of sixth ranked Etzella (9-7). Etzella managed to secure a 5-point victory 80-75 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 11 points at the halftime before their 45-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Etzella outrebounded Basket Esch 38-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American-Liberian forward Daniel Horace (200-83, college: Miami, OH, agency: KMG Sports Management) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Nelson Delgado (188-80) supported him with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Etzella players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds by Slovakian power forward Stefan Svitek (203-77) did not help to save the game for Basket Esch. International forward Martin Rajniak (204-78, college: CSU Bakersfield) added 19 points for lost side. Etzella moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Musel Pikes. Loser Basket Esch dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Residence. Etzella will meet Musel Pikes (#5) in the next round. Basket Esch will play against the league's second-placed Sparta in Bertrange and hope to secure a win.
