We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Sigma Barcellona (10-6) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Givova Scafati (10-6) 69-64 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-15. But Sigma Barcellona won second period 17-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) who scored 24 points. His fellow American import power forward James Thomas (203-80, college: Texas) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Panamanian swingman Michael Hicks (193-76, college: Texas A&M-CC) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American guard Mike Green (185-85, college: Butler) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Sigma Barcellona's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Givova Scafati moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sigma Barcel. Givova Scafati will face bottom-ranked S.Antimo (#15) in Sant'Antimo in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sigma Barcellona will play at home against Aget Imola (#12).
