Regular Season Round 17: Tln Kalev - TTU 71-85

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tallinn: TTU/Kalev (#5) and Tln Kalev (#6). Tln Kalev was defeated at home 71-85 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It looked good early as Tln Kalev took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then TTU/Kalev had a 22-12 second period charge getting the lead and Tln Kalev was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-85. TTU/Kalev made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Tln Kalev 45-24 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tln Kalev was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Illimar Pilk (195-88) stepped up and scored 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Kiur Akenparg (190-88) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Four TTU/Kalev players scored in double figures. American guard Brandis Raley-Ross (188-87, college: S.Carolina) responded with 24 points and the other American import forward Matt Shaw (203-88, college: UNLV) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Tln Kalev's coach Indrek Reinbok rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. TTU/Kalev (8-8) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rapla. Tln Kalev at the other side keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. TTU/Kalev's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tallinn Kalev/Cramo.
