Regular Season Round 24: Mitsubishi K. - JX Sunflowers 63-76

WJBL top team - JX Sunflowers (21-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked Mitsubishi K. (9-15) in Nagoya 76-63. The game without a history. JX Sunflowers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for JX Sunflowers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of swingman Masaru Honda (175-89) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and the former international power forward Yuka Mamiya (184-90) who added 11 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four JX Sunflowers players scored in double figures. JX Sunflowers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was swingman Mitiko Miyamoto (175-86) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Yasuko Hashimoto (163-82) scored 20 points and 4 steals. JX Sunflowers have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 21-3 record. Mitsubishi K. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Chanson V-M. JX Sunflowers will play against Fujitsu RW (#4) in Kawasaki in the next round. Mitsubishi K. will play on the road against Chanson V-M in Shizuoka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
