Regular Season Round 13: Bnot Hasharon - Maccabi Ashdod 64-82

D1 top team - Maccabi Ashdod (10-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat sixth ranked Bnot Hasharon (5-7) in Hertzeliya 82-64. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Bnot Hasharon was better in third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ashdod dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Bnot Hasharon's 30. Maccabi Ashdod forced 24 Bnot Hasharon turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American players dominated also this game. Guard Tamera Young (188-86, college: JMU) stepped up and scored 21 points and 4 steals for the winners and Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) chipped in 17 points. At the losing side swingman Karima Christmas (182-89, college: Duke) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Kerri Gardin (186-84, college: Virginia Tech) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Maccabi Ashdod have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-2 record, which they share with Elitzur Ramla. Bnot Hasharon lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will play against league's second-placed Elitzur Ramla at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bnot Hasharon will play against Ramat Hasharon (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
