There was an upset when 4th placed Hapoel Afula (9-6) was smashed at home by thirteenth ranked Ironi Ramat Gan (5-10) 98-70 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Ironi Ramat Gan. Hapoel Afula was better in second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ironi Ramat Gan dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Afula's 34. It was a great shooting night for Ironi Ramat Gan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Rodney Webb (200-83, college: Florida Atlantic) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. Guard T.J Bannister (180-84, college: Liberty, agency: KMG Sports Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 assists for the winners. Five Ironi Ramat Gan players scored in double figures. Forward Gregg Thondique (201-87, college: Virginia Union) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and guard Ronny LeMelle (196-81, college: Auburn) added 16 points in the effort for Hapoel Afula. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ironi Ramat Gan moved-up to twelfth place. Loser Hapoel Afula keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Ironi Ramat Gan will face higher ranked Lev Hasharon (#11) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hapoel Afula will play against Hapoel Yokneam/Megido (#14) and be promoted back to the Premier League just one year after relegation.
