There was no surprise when 5th ranked Zastal ZG (13-8) was defeated on the road by first ranked Trefl Sopot (16-5) 84-67 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Trefl Sopot. Zastal ZG was better in fourth quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trefl Sopot shot 26 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Zastal ZG only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Zastal ZG 35-21 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zastal ZG was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Filip Dylewicz (202-80) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American power forward John Turek (205-83, college: Nebraska) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Five Trefl Sopot players scored in double figures. American center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) produced 10 points and 7 rebounds and Ivorian-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Zastal ZG's coach Mihailo Uvalin rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Trefl Sopot have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-5 record. Zastal ZG at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Trefl Sopot will face league's second-placed PGE Turow in Zgorzelec in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zastal ZG will play at home against Energa Czarni in Slupsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
