Regular Season Round 27: Kauhajoki - ToPo 93-69

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kauhajoki. Third ranked host Kauhajoen Karhu (16-9) smashed 4th placed Torpan Pojat (13-11) 93-69. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-69. Kauhajoen Karhu dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Torpan Pojat's 40. They outrebounded Torpan Pojat 43-24 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for international forward Vesa Makalainen (200-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Clevin Hannah (180-87, college: Wichita St., agency: Court Side) helped adding 19 points and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Five Kauhajoen Karhu players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Chase Griffin (188-83, college: Pepperdine) with 22 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international power forward Hanno Mottola (209-76, college: Utah) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Kauhajoen Karhu maintains third place with 16-9 record having three points less than leader Kataja. Torpan Pojat at the other side dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu are looking forward to face Tampereen Pyrinto (#4) on the road in the next round. Torpan Pojat will play against Namika Lahti and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
