Second Stage Round 1: Toyota A. - Denso Iris 74-47

An interesting game for Toyota A. (17-6) which hosted in Nagoya 4th placed Denso Iris (9-14). First ranked Toyota A. had an easy win 74-47. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Denso Iris. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota A.. Denso Iris managed to win fourth quarter 12-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Denso Iris to just 5 points in second quarter. Toyota A. forced 20 Denso Iris turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Toyota A. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Denso Iris' players. Forward Mika Kurihara (178-89) nailed 22 points and 4 assists (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!) for the winning side and the former international guard Maya Kawahara (167-87) accounted for 15 points and 4 assists. International guard Kumiko Oba (169-88) came up with 21 points and international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) added 2 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Denso Iris in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Toyota A. went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with Chanson V-M. Loser Denso Iris dropped to the seventh place with 14 games lost. Toyota A.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nagoya to the arena Mitsubishi K..
