The game had a very big importance for sixth-ranked JX Sunflowers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. JX Sunflowers defeated 8th ranked Mitsubishi K. in Kashiwa 80-65. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Mitsubishi K.. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Mitsubishi K. managed to win fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mitsubishi K. 41-28 including 20 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when JX Sunflowers made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds and 7 blocks (made all of her ten free throws !!!). International point guard Asami Yoshida (165-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four JX Sunflowers players scored in double figures. The former international forward Chika Sakuragi (179-91) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and center Enjin Wantsu (189-87) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Mitsubishi K.JX Sunflowers (23-0) have an impressive series of twenty three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Mitsubishi K. at the other side dropped to the fifth place with seven games lost. Mitsubishi K. will play next round against strong Toyota A. trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nagoya - Toyota A.. JX Sunflowers will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Denso Iris in Kariya.
