There was no surprise in Wolfville, NS where 6th ranked Tigers (5-7) were defeated by fourth ranked Axemen (7-4) 99-90 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 33-18. But Tigers won third quarter 24-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Axemen made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Guard Anthony Sears (193) scored 29 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international forward Owen Klassen (208-91) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side Cameroonian forward William Yengue (193) responded with 29 points and 6 rebounds and guard Stephen Lopez (188, college: Bossier-Parish CC) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Axemen and four Tigers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Axemen have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 7-4 record. Loser Tigers keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Axemen will have a break next round. Tigers will play at home against the league's leader X-Men (#1) in Antigonish, NS.
