Regular Season Round 13: Hitachi SR - Toyota Alvark 62-59

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Toyota Alvark (20-6) in Osaka on Friday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (15-11) 62-59. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (206-85, agency: N.E.T.) stepped up and scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and guard Daisuke Kobayashi (188-87) chipped in 22 points. At the losing side American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hitachi Sunrockers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 15-11 record having five points less than leader Toyota Alvark, which they share with Panasonic T. Toyota Alvark at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers is looking forward to face Mitsubishi Dolphins (#7) in Nagoya in the next round. Toyota Alvark will play at home against the league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses (#2) in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
