Regular Season Round 19: RTU-Merks - TTT Riga 57-73

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Riga: TTT Riga (#1) and RTU-Merks (#3). RTU-Merks were crushed at home by 16 points 57-73 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of RTU-Merks. TTT Riga forced 19 RTU-Merks turnovers and had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for international swingman Ieva Krastina (175-90, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points and 5 rebounds. Center Liga Surkusa (194-91) helped adding 9 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side forward Laura Audere (180-84) responded with 19 points and 4 steals and power forward Ieva Vitola (187-85) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. RTU-Merks' coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-1 record. RTU-Merks at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. TTT Riga are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Kolibri/U-16 (#8) in Riga in the next round and are hoping to win another game. RTU-Merks will play on the road against TTT Juniores (#6) in Riga and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
