The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Northland as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Northland smashed 6th ranked Visby Ladies in Lulea 86-62. The game was mostly controlled by Northland. Visby Ladies managed to win fourth quarter 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Northland dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Visby Ladies' 28. Northland forced 19 Visby Ladies turnovers and outrebounded them 46-23 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Brazilian swingman Silvia Santos Luz (173-75, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 assists. The former international forward Anna Barthold (183-80, college: St.Peter's, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Northland players scored in double figures. Northland's coach Jan Johansson felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Jeannie Saunders (173-86, college: Salem Intern.) answered with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and the other American import swingman Ashleigh Brown (183-87, college: Miami, OH) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Visby Ladies. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Telge. Visby Ladies at the other side keep the sixth place with ten games lost. Visby Ladies will play next round against strong Mark Basket trying to get back on the winning streak. Northland will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Telge on the road.
