Regular Season Round 22: Regina - Winnipeg 86-79

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Regina, SK where 12th ranked Wesmen (4-11) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Cougars (4-10) 86-79 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-79. Cougars had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Paul Gareau (201) had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Connor Burns (201) chipped in 15 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Dominique Brown (193) responded with 17 points and guard Andrew Cunningham (186, college: Redlands CC) scored 5 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Four Wesmen players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cougars moved-up to twelfth place. Loser Wesmen dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. Cougars will face again Wesmen (#13) in Winnipeg, MB in the next round.
