There was a small surprise in Abbotsford where seventh ranked Trinity Western (9-6) won against 4th placed UFV (10-5) 71-59 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 38-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The former international center Laurelle Weigl (193-88, college: Simon Fraser) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and forward Emily Knauff (180-87) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Trinity Western's coach Jean-Paul Cheryl allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was guard Aieisha Luyken (173) with 11 points and 5 rebounds and forward Sarah Wierks (188) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Trinity Western maintains seventh place with 9-6 record. Loser UFV dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
