Regular Season Round 17: Handlopex AZS - Staco MNLK 66-83

The game between third ranked Handlopex AZS (9-6) and ninth ranked Staco MNLK (8-8) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Handlopex AZS was defeated by Staco MNLK in Rzeszow 83-66. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Staco MNLK forced 25 Handlopex AZS turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Staco MNLK made 14 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Jakub Dziura (202-81) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. The former international swingman Wojciech Majchrzak (194-74) chipped in 18 points. Five Staco MNLK players scored in double figures. Forward Piotr Ucinek (196-80) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Marek Osiniak (200-80) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Handlopex AZS's coach Mariusz Michalczyk rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Staco MNLK moved-up to sixth place in Group C, which they share with Unia Tarnow. Handlopex AZS at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with MKS Limbach and Tur Bielsk Pdl.. Staco MNLK is looking forward to face higher ranked Tur Bielsk Pdl. (#4) in Bielsk Podlaski in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Handlopex AZS will play on the road against Pulaski Warka and is hoping to win this game.
