There was no surprise in Szczecin where 9th ranked Wilki Morskie (6-10) was defeated by sixth ranked AZS UWM Olsz. (8-7) 75-62 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when AZS UWM Olsz.'s pressure prevailed and they won that period 20-13 extending their advantage to 13 points. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when AZS UWM Olsz. made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Marcin Kowalewski (200-86) who scored 21 points. Forward Krzysztof Kawalek (196-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Four AZS UWM Olsz. players scored in double figures. Guard Karol Nowacki (194-91) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and guard Piotr Knowa (176-91) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. AZS UWM Olsz. moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Zuraw Gniewno. Wilki Morskie lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. AZS UWM Olsz. will face league's leader Open Florentyna in Pleszew in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wilki Morskie will play on the road against the league's second-placed Astoria Bydg. (#2) in Bydgoszcz.
