Regular Season Round 31: Yokohama BC - Akita NH 72-69

There was a change at the BJ League leadership position after last games. Round 31 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Akita Happinets (17-10). They were edged by sixth ranked Yokohama BC (12-14) 72-69 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Akita Happinets. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-69. It was a great evening for American forward Justin Burrell (235-88, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Senegalese guard Pape Faye (194-87) helped adding 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and Dutch-American power forward Stanley Ocitti (203-80, college: Binghamton) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Yokohama BC maintains sixth place with 12-14 record. Akita Happinets at the other side still keep top position with ten games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Okinawa GK who have the same record. Akita Happinets will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Yokohama BC will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Akita Happinets at home.
