The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Thunderwolves' (14-2) road victory over 3rd placed Lancers (11-5) 85-79 on Saturday. Lancers trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 21-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-85 at the end of the game. Strangely Lancers outrebounded Thunderwolves 48-26 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Ben Johnson (-88) who scored 29 points. Naturalized Egyptian forward Yoosrie Salhia (198-87) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. International forward Lien Phillip (203-89) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and forward Evan Matthews (206-92) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Thunderwolves have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Laurier. Loser Lancers keep the third place with five games lost. Thunderwolves will have a break next round. Lancers will play at home against the league's second-placed Golden Hawks in Waterloo, ON and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
