A very close game took place in Sydney, NS between Varsity Reds and Capers. Seventh ranked Varsity Reds (4-9) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed Capers (8-6). Varsity Reds managed to escape with a 2-point win 90-88 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 23-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Varsity Reds made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for guard Daniel Quirion (183) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. British V.Islands guard William McFee (191) helped adding 23 points and 4 assists. Varsity Reds' coach Brent Baker used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Jimmy Dorsey (188) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists and guard Al Alilovic (198) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Varsity Reds maintains seventh place with 4-9 record. Loser Capers keep the third position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
