Regular Season Round 5: Al Rayyan - Al Ahli 85-47

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Doha: Al Rayyan (#1) and Al Ahli (#6). Al Rayyan (5-0) crushed visiting Al Ahli (1-4) by 38 points 85-47. They outrebounded Al Ahli 49-29 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international forward Tanguy Ngombo (197-84) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. International Erfan Ali (198-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. Al Rayyan's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Cameron Crisp (192-81, college: Tenn Tech) produced 21 points and Gambian forward Mahamoud Jabbi (200-87, college: Binghamton) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Al Rayyan have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 5-0 record. Loser Al Ahli keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Al Wakrah. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Jaysh.
