The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Akita Happinets) loss. Hamamatsu Phoenix defeated 3rd placed Niigata Albirex in Mikawa 83-77. The hosts were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 7-point deficit before their 28-15 run, which allowed them to win the game. Niigata Albirex was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court.
