Very expected game when 12th ranked Hondarribia-Irun (4-12) lost at home to fifth ranked Rivas Ecopolis (11-5) 74-58. The game was mostly controlled by Rivas Ecopolis. Hondarribia-Irun was better in fourth quarter 16-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hondarribia-Irun 42-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Essence Carson (183-86, college: Rutgers) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds and Serbian forward Tijana Krivacevic (194-90) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Rivas Ecopolis players scored in double figures. At the losing side Chilean center Tatiana Gomez (193-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Sandra Ygueravide (172-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 8 points and 5 assists. Rivas Ecopolis maintains fifth position with 11-5 record. Hondarribia-Irun at the other side dropped to the tenth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Real C.Vigo and Burgos. Rivas Ecopolis will play against higher ranked Argon Uni Girona (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hondarribia-Irun will play against the league's second-placed Perfumerias Avenida (#2) in Salamanca and hopes to get back on the winning track.
