No shocking result in a game in Madrid where fourth ranked Real Canoe (12-4) outleveled 9th ranked Gernika (7-8) 81-60 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-60. Real Canoe made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Gernika turnovers. Guard Lidia Gesteira (172-72) stepped up and scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and forward Eva Lozano (180-83, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 20 points. Four Real Canoe players scored in double figures. American forward Tynikki Crook (185-89, college: Marshall) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the other American import guard Alysha Harvin (178-88, college: Florida St.) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Canoe have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Casablanca and Conquero. Newly promoted Gernika keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Real Canoe will face Cravic Reus (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gernika will play against Casablanca in Zaragoza.
