Muggia (#5) forced the game against Meccanica NB (#1) into an overtime, but lost by five points 66-71 on Saturday night. The game took place in Muggia. But the guests from Bologna were better at the end. Muggia was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 15-11 charge of Meccanica NB, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-9. Meccanica NB made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Irene Cigliani (177-92) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Valeria Zanoli (170-84) who added 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Annalisa Borroni (183-83) responded with 27 points and 7 rebounds and guard Jessica Cergol (180-85) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Meccanica NB (14-2) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position in North. Newly promoted Muggia keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Meccanica NB will face Alghero (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Muggia will play against Biassono (#14).
